The Weinstein Co. Hires David Hutkin to Launch Strategic Iniative Group

The USC faculty member will oversee banking relationships for the company

The Weinstein Company has hired entertainment financing veteran David Hutkin to launch a Strategic Initiatives, Investments & Banking Group as a new division, the company announced Tuesday.

As executive vice president of the Group, Hutkin will oversee all strategic banking relationships including single-picture and slate financing, and investor relations as well as off-balance-sheet film funds. Beyond direct finance, he will also seek to mesh creative financing with the many industry relationships he has forged over the years and that already exist at The Weinstein Company.

Hutkin will be based in Los Angeles and will report to TWC Co-Chairmen Bob and Harvey Weinstein and COO David Glasser. Also at the new Group will be Vivian Tarn, AVP, Strategic Initiatives, Investments and Banking, who has worked with Hutkin over the past seven years.

Within Hutkin's entertainment banking career, early transactional work included "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," "Monster," "The Upside of Anger," "The Illusionist" and "The Tudors." Hutkin is also on the faculty at the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC film school, instructing in structured finance/distribution.
