It’s the beginning of the end for “This Is Us.” The second-to-last episode of the NBC drama was an emotional one, as the matriarch of the Pearson family took her last breaths with her children by her side.
The episode was by far the highest-rated show of the night among the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, earning a whopping 0.95 at 9 p.m. 5.3 million people tuned in for the tearjerker. That’s the second-highest of the season in both categories, behind only the Jan. 4 season premiere.
As always, CBS’ “FBI” franchise, which is also gearing up for its final episodes of the season, raked in a ton of viewers. The original series, which is generally the one that secures the most eyeballs, got 7.1 million total viewers at 8 p.m. (and a nice 0.56 demo rating).
Here’s how primetime broke down across the major broadcast networks:
NBC was first in ratings with an average 0.56 rating in the key demo. CBS came in first in total viewers with an average of 6.2 million, according to official Nielsen numbers.
CBS was second in ratings with an average 0.53 in the demo, while NBC was second in total viewers with an average of 3.4 million.
On NBC, “Young Rock” kicked things off with a 0.35 demo rating and 1.9 million total viewers at 8 p.m. “Mr. Mayor” was next, with a 0.27 demo rating and 1.6 million total viewers at 8:30. At 9, “This Is Us” scored a 0.95 demo rating and 5.3 million total viewers. “New Amsterdam” ended the night with a 0.38 demo rating and 2.9 million total viewers at 10.
For CBS, “FBI” drew a 0.56 demo rating and 7.1 million total viewers at 8 p.m. At 9, “FBI: International” secured a 0.54 demo rating and 6 million total viewers. “FBI: Most Wanted” rounded things out with a 0.48 demo rating and 5.5 million total viewers at 10.
Fox was third in ratings with an average 0.31 in the demo, and ABC was fourth with an average 0.27. The networks tied in total viewers with an average of 2.1 million.
On Fox, “The Resident” took home a 0.35 demo rating and 2.9 million total viewers at 8, while “Name That Tune” earned a 0.26 demo rating and 1.4 million total viewers at 9. As always, Fox didn’t air any new programming at 10.
Over on ABC, “Holey Moley” had a 0.36 demo rating and 2.6 million total viewers at 8 p.m. At 9, “The Chase” won a 0.27 demo rating and 2.2 million total viewers. “Who Do You Believe” drew a 0.18 demo rating and 1.4 million total viewers at 10.
The CW was fifth in ratings with an average 0.07 in the demo and in total viewers with an average of 360,000. The network aired two hours of “Superman & Lois” reruns this week, since the season is currently on hiatus. The first hour got a 0.07 demo rating and 378,000 total viewers, while the second hour stayed steady with a 0.07 demo rating and 343,000 total viewers.
Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision finished first with a 0.5 demo rating and in average total viewers with 1.7 million. “Soltero Con Hijas” earned a 0.4 demo rating and 1.3 million total viewers at 8 p.m. At 9, “Mi Fortuna Es Amarte” had a 0.5 demo rating and 1.5 million total viewers. At 10, the premiere of “El último rey: El hijo del pueblo” received a 0.4 demo rating and 1.6 million total viewers.
Telemundo was second in ratings with a 0.3 demo rating and in average total viewers with 854,000. “Casa de Famosos,” which began airing at 7 p.m., had a 0.3 demo rating and 1.1 million total viewers. “Hasta Que Plata Nos” received a 0.2 demo rating and 703,000 total viewers at 9, and “Pasion Gavilanes” had a 0.3 demo rating and 745,000 total viewers at 10.
