Vernon Sanders has been promoted to executive VP of current programming for NBC and NBC Universal Media Studios, the network announced Tuesday.
In his new role, Sanders will oversee all current broadcast scripted programming for both the TV network and the studio.
Most recently Sanders was senior VP of drama programming at NBC, responsible for overseeing new NBC series for this fall, "Undercovers" and "Love Bites," as well as "Parenthood" and the development of the drama series pilot for "Prime Suspect."
Sanders has served as VP of comedy programming from 2004-07 for both Universal Media Studios and its predecessor, NBC Universal Television Studio. He was VP of comedy programming at Universal Network Television in 2003, which he joined in 2002 as executive director of comedy programming. From 1999 to 2002, he was VP of TV development at Paul Reiser’s Nuance Productions, and from 1996-98 he was director of TV development at Wind Dancer Productions.
"Vernon is an incredibly talented programming executive in both comedy and drama, who has earned the respect of talent, writers and his colleagues," Angela Bromstad, president, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and NBC Universal Media Studios, said in a statement. "He has great relationships, good commercial instincts, and we know that in this new position he will further expand our commitment to broadcasting quality series on a consistent basis."
