You’ve heard of dog shaming, but what about penguin shaming? Thanks to the National Aquarium of New Zealand–and a little penguin named Timmy–penguin shaming is now a thing.
On Saturday, the New Zealand aquarium shared a post on its Facebook page explaining the concept. “Every month our penguin keepers tell the world about our naughtiest and best behaved penguins! This was the list for June….”
Pictures of two penguins are tacked to a wall along with a sign detailing their behavior. The best behaved penguin is Betty, a cute little lady who waited patiently for her food and was a good swimmer.
And then, there’s Timmy.
According to the sign, naughty Timmy “stole fish” and “pushed another penguin over.”
The Internet went crazy over Timmy the penguin’s unsportsmanlike conduct. The Facebook post has nabbed over 11,000 reactions, nearly 6,000 shares, and 5,300 comments. And on Twitter, Timmy is no less popular.

“Which one won the election?” commented one user on Rae Paoletta’s post. “RT if you have a child who is Timmy,” said another. One person even congratulated Betty for her good behavior: “I’m proud of Betty tho bc she waited patiently for fish.”

Watch Timmy in action here.
Timmy may be bad, but people are loving him. In addition to stealing fish, this little penguin has also stolen many, many hearts.
