Emmett/Furla Films has entered an agreement with Hasbro, Inc. to finance and co-produce three films based on Hasbro properties in the next two years, the company announced on Thursday.
Under this new creative partnership, Emmett/Furla and Hasbro will co-produce the three films along with Brandon Grimes. Envision Entertainment’s partners Stepan Martisoyan and Remington Chase, along with Emmett/Furla, will co-finance them.
The first movie, the big-screen version of the iconic board game "Monopoly," is slated to begin production in 2013. The other two projects are based on "Hungry Hungry Hippos" and "Action Man," according to the Los Angeles Times.
“We are thrilled to be working with Hasbro. Their iconic brands have translated into great entertainment enjoyed by audiences of all ages worldwide” said Randall Emmett. “We look forward to a very successful partnership and to bringing ‘Monopoly’ to the big screen.”
In addition to producing and financing these three pictures, Emmett/Furla is slated to produce six to eight films within the year. Presently, they are wrapping “2 Guns” an $85 million production to be released by Universal, followed by “Lone Survivor,” a $45 million film directed by Peter Berg, starring Mark Wahlberg, which has started filming in New Mexico and will be distributed by Universal.
