Miramax Names Eric Doctorow New EVP, Head of Home Entertainment

Longtime studio executive will lead company’s worldwide home distribution efforts

Miramax announced on Monday that Eric Doctorow has been named executive vice president and will head Miramax’s worldwide home entertainment and distribution efforts.

Doctorow will report to Miramax chief Mike Lang, who was appointed CEO of the company in December.

Doctorow spent more than 20 years at Paramount, most recently as its home entertainment division president. Prior to joining Miramax, he managed MGM's worldwide home entertainment and was the general manager for Fox home entertainment arm.

His responsibilities at Miramax will also include overseeing digital and licensing opportunities, the company said.

SANTA MONICA, CA — March 7, 2011 — Miramax today announced that Eric Doctorow has been appointed Executive Vice President, effective immediately.  Doctorow will lead Miramax’s worldwide home entertainment and distribution efforts, and his responsibilities will also include supporting digital and licensing opportunities.  Doctorow will report to Mike Lang, Miramax’s CEO.

Since closing the Miramax transaction in December 2010, Lang and the Miramax team have signed several long-term distribution deals.  In addition to Lionsgate, these include Studiocanal for home entertainment in Europe, Echo Bridge for select Miramax titles in the U.S., and Alliance Films in Canada.  Doctorow will have day-to-day responsibility for all of these strategic relationships going forward.

Prior to joining Miramax, Doctorow managed MGM Home Entertainment Worldwide as the General Manager for Fox Home Entertainment.  Previously, he served for more than 20 years at Paramount, most recently as President of Paramount’s Worldwide Home Entertainment Division.  Doctorow also served stints as Chief Operating Officer of the video game publisher THQ and as Chief Operating Officer of the home entertainment distribution company Ventura Entertainment.  Doctorow is an inductee into the video industry’s Hall of Fame and currently serves on the board of The Digital Entertainment Group.  He holds an MBA from UCLA.
