Media Matters for America chief Angelo Carusone was no fan of the White House Correspondents Association’s decision to throw Michelle Wolf under the bus. After the organization’s president Margaret Talev released a statement, expressing the group’s disappointment with Wolf’s tough monologue, Carusone unloaded on Twitter.
“I’m not surprised WHCA capitulated way that they did to some critics. The news media has been capitulating to baseless right-wing hysteria for decades, it’s actually part of the reason things are so f–ed up. Ironically, often dismissing or negatively reacting to legit criticism,” he said in a thread.
“Unless I am actually wrong or really screwed up, I don’t capitulate to critics. Don’t get me wrong, I’m open to listening and learning. But, once I make a call…I am willing to stand by decision and the course of action it sets out. That can lead to some bumpy days, but worth it,” Carusone added.

Carusone — a longtime right-wing bête noire — said that he never caved to critics unless he really felt it was a major screw up.

The Media Matters chief, widely known for his advertiser boycotts against Fox News, has faced scrutiny in recent weeks over his organization’s decision to offer material and logistical support for a boycott of Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
Despite the hostility towards Fox, Carusone raised eyebrows when he told TheWrap last week that his organization would take no action against MSNBC anchor Joy Reid over old blog posts where she made disparaging remarks about LGBT Americans.
