Los Angeles-based production work for movies, TV shows, commercials, etc. was virtually flat in the third quarter, increasing only 0.3 percent, according to non-profit permitting body Film L.A.
And when you're year-to-year comparison is a 2009 that was the worst for L.A. location work in 15 years, that's not good.
Film L.A. reported Tuesday that it issued permits on 9,713 production days in the quarter, compared to 9,680 in the third quarter of last year, with movie production falling 6.6 percent in the region.
Television shooting days droped 8.2 percent overall, with dramas falling a whopping 35 percent. The good news: work on sitcoms was up 48.8 percent, and reality shooting days increased 24.2 percent.
Film L.A. attributed the overall sluggish performance to a scarcity of state incentive money. While $200 million in tax credits were available to producers in 2009, only $100 million in credits could be had this year.
