Internet TV Technology Provider Verismo Networks Raises $17M

Intel Capital leads funding round for Mountain View, Calif. start-up, which is seeking to support cable plays including TV Everywhere

Verismo Networks, a Silicon Valley-based provider of Internet TV platforms serving cable service providers, has announced the acquisition of $17 million in private funding.

Intel Capital led the round, which also included participation from Verismo's existing seed investors.

Developing a high-definition Internet TV platform called VuNow, Verismo is seeking to carve a technology fulfillment niche for cable MSO's looking to port their content onto the web.

"Service providers have been struggling to meet new consumer demands of content anywhere, anytime,' said Prakash Bhalerao, president and CEO of Verismo. "Our platform enables these providers the ability to deliver triple-play services profitably and cost effectively to their subscribers anywhere, anytime, on and off their network."
