Fox has named Ann Calfas to the newly created position of executive VP, labor relations and employment litigation, paving the way for her to assume the role as the studio’s top guild negotiator when Dean Ferris retires in 2012.
Fox concurrently announced a new two-year deal with Ferris, a 25-year studio veteran, who serves as executive VP of labor relations, putting him at the forefront for the next round of guild negotiations.
According to a Fox release, the Calfas’ position consolidates “two closely related areas that frequently work together and routinely address overlapping issues.”
Calfas is a Standard Law graduate who served 14 years as head of Fox’s employment law group before departing in 2008. She also has served in the Los Angeles office of law firm Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher. She’ll report to Greg Gelfan, executive VP of Fox Filmed Entertainment, and Gary Roberts, executive VP of Fox Group Legal.
