Kutcher is testifying on Capitol Hill because he is the co-founder of Thorn, a tech organization that fights sexual exploitation. The hearing is called “Ending Modern Slavery: Building on Success.”
The Thon website states, “While the Internet and advances in technology over the past few decades have allowed us to create many amazing things, they have also introduced a new threat and dimension to crimes against children. The Internet makes content and abuse easier to identify and participate in; like-minded individuals can create communities to justify their actions; digital imagery and videos allow abuse to be shared globally at the push of a button; and private and encrypted networks protect individuals that participate in the most egregious types of abuse.”
Kutcher wasn’t just there to flirt with McCain, telling Senate that he is appeared “to defend the right to pursue happiness.” “It’s a simple notion,” he added.
“Every citizen of this country has the right to pursue it and I believe that it is incumbent upon us as citizens of this nation as Americans to bestow that right upon others.”
"I'm here today to defend the right to pursue happiness."
